Document Retrieval – I obtain documents in Roanoke, Virgina, and surrounding areas – $35 per document (travel outside of Roanoke city limits is an additional charge)
Genealogy Audit: I review your research, identify any issues that need to be addressed, and recommend the next steps for your research project.
Project Planning: I work with you to create a research objective and a research plan specific to that objective, providing you with the tools to conduct your research.
Research Project – I work with you to create a research objective, create a research plan specific to your objective, conduct the research, and produce a report of my findings – positive and negative. Research reports include relevant transcriptions, abstracts, research notes, and digital images of documents.
Research services are $50/hour, with a ten-hour minimum for most research projects.

RESEARCH PACKAGES
Your Lineage Deluxe package / $1,200
20 hours of research – includes a review of prior research for a research subject, a report detailing the research project’s findings, digital images of all relevant documents, lineage paper, and a family tree illustrating the project’s findings.
Your Lineage Premiere Package / $2,200
40 hours of research – includes a review of prior research for a research subject, a report detailing the research project’s findings, digital images of all relevant documents, lineage paper, and a family tree illustrating the project’s findings.
Lineage Society research starts at $3,500. Several generations of research for a personal lineage society research project can be viewed here.
Package includes a review of your prior research, research and documentation for each generational relationship, digital images of the documentation needed for your lineage society application, lineage paper, and a family tree illustrating the project’s findings.
Please note that admittance into a lineage society is not guaranteed and is subject to a society’s standards for proof, nor is it guaranteed that documentation leading to a society’s Qualifying Ancestor will be found.
Gift certificates for genealogy services are available to purchase.
Ten-hour minimum. Gift certificates must be redeemed within a year of purchase.
DETAILS
Office hours are Monday- Friday, 9 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET.
Research projects adhere to Genealogy Standards and the Genealogical Proof Standard (GPS) as established by the Board for Certification of Genealogists.
The initial one-hour consultation and final meeting with the client to review research results (up to one hour) are complimentary.
Clients set an hourly cap before a research project begins – ten (10) hour minimum. Projects may require more time to complete, in which case client will determine if continued research is desired. For projects that take less time to complete, clients are not responsible for the payment of time that is not used.
New clients - A review of prior research leading to a research subject is recommended to ensure a project's reliability.
Charges for miscellaneous items such as copying fees, postage, etc. will be discussed before a project begins.
A contract detailing the above is signed before a project begins.
Reports, research plans, and digital images of relevant documents will be electronically transferred to client via Dropbox.
Although thorough research will be conducted for each project, there is no guarantee that extensive information for an ancestor will be found or that a conclusion of relationship will be reached.
Negative searches and negative findings will be included in the client report.
